To deal with labor shortages firms get way too creative for their own good. Hiring more workers and offering ever more "innovative" ways of working is merely a band-aid solution; at best it is a pointless irritation, at worst it destroys value.
The solution is as simple as it comes for free. Firms need to compose better teams (considering hard and soft skills) out of the existing workforce (teams that are built to be fit for purpose) and dynamically and radically allocate (human) resources to where the most expected value for the firm is.
